Greasy Grace

Watching some Christians the last few years as well as various ministers coming out and saying they wont preach on sin I have come to the conclusion that many Christians like the "free" grace as a license to sin which Paul warned us against.

Romans 6

6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Yet many of those claiming to be believers in Jesus and his atoning work keep going back to the same sin over and over. We are to REPENT of our sins. This means to turn away, abhor that which takes us away from God.

Too often I have been told "I can do what I want because we are under grace and God will forgive."

That is not what Scripture says. You either choose to be obedient to the person who you call your Lord and Master or you choose to be like the world. You can't have it both ways. Do we really serve Him or do we serve Him by lip service only?

Are we the same people in front of our friends and family at Church as we are in the privacy of our own home?

Jesus told us how we would truly know His servants and His Disciples!

Matthew 7:15-20

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

What IS the Fruit of the Spirit (singular)

Galatians 5:22-26

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

If you are not showing these fruit in your life should you be thinking about where you are in your walk?

We, as a Body, need to be checking our walk daily

Luke 9:23

23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

If you are in a sin - truly repent! Sin is missing the mark, repentance is walking away from the things you know are not honoring God.

Romans 12:2

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

What does this mean? I believe it means we are not to be caught up in the pursuits the world would have you think is normal. No Compromise to our faith should be our motto as we grow in our faith.

Let's put away the child like faith and go on to maturity.  You come as a child BUT we do not have to stay there.

Back to greasy grace. Do not fall into the trap of believing that you can continue to sin....why....because your sins will lead you away from God. Slowly by slowly you will start to compromise in one area and then another until your faith will not be evident to anyone.

Of course this is just my opinion based on the evidence of my own life. I do thank God for grace and will never again take that for granted.
