The Pat Robertson Spin

I told you it was coming............

Statement Regarding Pat Robertson's Comments on Haiti

CBN.comVIRGINIA BEACH, Va., January 13, 2010 -- On today’s The 700 Club, during a segment about the devastation, suffering and humanitarian effort that is needed in Haiti, Dr. Robertson also spoke about Haiti’s history. His comments were based on the widely-discussed 1791 slave rebellion led by Boukman Dutty at Bois Caiman, where the slaves allegedly made a famous pact with the devil in exchange for victory over the French.

This history, combined with the horrible state of the country, has led countless scholars and religious figures over the centuries to believe the country is cursed. Dr. Robertson never stated that the earthquake was God’s wrath.

If you watch the entire video segment, Dr. Robertson’s compassion for the people of Haiti is clear. He called for prayer for them. His humanitarian arm has been working to help thousands of people in Haiti over the last year, and they are currently launching a major relief and recovery effort to help the victims of this disaster. They have sent a shipment of millions of dollars worth of medications that is now in Haiti, and their disaster team leaders are expected to arrive tomorrow and begin operations to ease the suffering.

In my view if it was Alleged then he shouldn't have said it at all. His compassion was overshadowed by that alleged story he told.

Pat Robertson's Haiti Comments

Pat's Comments were irresponsible at best.

To say that Haiti had a pact with the devil and that is why this devastation occurred is not something anyone should say at this time even if they believe it.

We could say that the things that happen anywhere in the world could be God's hand or it could be the way things are going to play out.

We are told that in the last days we will see more devastation and we are seeing these things coming to pass. We shouldn't be surprised!

However it would be more "Christian like" to use this time to pray for the individuals that they will see something in us and our help that will lead them away from the life that they lead and into the fullness of the Christian life.

Do I believe in calling a spade a spade! Absolutely. I believe this is all part of the end times plan unfolding.

To say that they deserved this because of some mythical pact with the devil. NO!

A friend said to me last night "remember Sodom...." Yes God used judgment in the OT and always warned of impending doom. In the New Testament we have a Savior and the plan for the world is laid out. We are personally accountable to God.

I have an inside source at CBN that has told me the spin has already begun on this one. They are ramping up damage control. If any calls come in regarding this statement they are to be redirected to their spin doctor.

I am not sure that these comments are going to sit very well with the African American or Haitian communities at all. I predict giving to CBN will go down in the coming months.

God is a good God and did not send this disaster to teach anyone a lesson.

2Pet.3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. God loves the people of Haiti and the whole world.

Pathways of Grace Christian Forums

Pathways Of Grace
I was not going to go back into the world of Christian forums because I don't think they are the most efficient way to communicate with the advent of social networking but due to some recent events I have decided to get back to some of my roots and re-establish myself at Pathways of Grace - A place where God's Kids can be His Kids.

Jonathan Payne
and I started this site about three years ago and although it has had its ups and downs Pathways of Grace has kept a steady membership and is now on the lookout for new members.

While it is, at this time being hosted on the Ning Network we are looking to move it to our own servers at a later date.

Come visit us at Pathways of Grace and jump into the conversation.
